A battle was recently won by Crawford College Sandton first cricket team as they faced off against Hyde Park High School.

The overcast conditions suited bowling and Hyde Park chose to field after winning the toss.

Hyde Park got off to a perfect start when opening bowler Andrew Ingman trapped Crawford opening batsman Adam Kramer LBW for five runs.

Crawford’s captain Jordan Swartzberg arrived at the crease to join his brother Aiden, and the brothers got their team back on track with a 111 partnership taking the score to 127.

Hyde Park eventually got the breakthrough dismissing Aiden for 54 and soon after Jordan lost his wicket for 52.

Crawford was in trouble at 16/6 but the arrival of vice-captain and wicketkeeper Adam Abro who scored 32 enabled Crawford to finish their innings on 210 all out.

Jordan and Aiden Swartzberg bat for Crawford College Sandton.

Hyde Park needed 211 for victory off 50 overs and they had a speedy start thanks to Ingman who smashed 21 from 20 balls in an opening partnership of 36.

However, when Akshay Satish bagged the wicket of Ingman, the game shifted in favour of Crawford.

Some brilliant bowling from Obakeng Mahura who took 4/9 saw Hyde Park all out for 106 giving Crawford a 104-run win.
