Three suspects nabbed at crime hotspots

The unlicensed firearm recovered during the operations.

As part of the Safer Festive Season operations, Sandton detectives were deployed for observation duties and undercover operations at smash-and-grabs and robbery hotspots on 9 November.

Brigadier Egen Moodley, station commander at the Sandton Police Station said three suspects were arrested during the operations. “Two suspects were arrested in possession of an unlicensed firearm on the corner of William Nicol Drive and Republic Road.”

He continued that another suspect was arrested at the corner of Maxwell and Woodmead drives. “The suspects were caught red-handed after they smashed a motor vehicle’s window and grabbed a cellphone.”

“I’m really proud of the good work done this week by Sandton police’s visible policing and detective members and I have encouraged them to continue like this throughout the festive season.”
