A Bryanston resident has been killed during a hijacking a mere 1km away from the recent incident on Summit Road where an elderly man was found dead in his home in a suspected home-invasion.

It is alleged that the 49-year-old victim was attacked on 30 May at 9pm on his way home with his wife from the Sandton Medi-Clinic. According to Brigadier Egen Moodley, the station commander at Sandton police, the victim was approaching Quorn and Farm streets when he was blocked by a silver Audi A4 from the front and a red Toyato Hilux from the back. Approximately 8 suspects exited these vehicles and approached the man’s black Range Rover before pointing firearms at the victims.

The man got out of his vehicle and attempted to flee before being shot in the abdomen by a suspect. He was forced into the backseat of the Range Rover with his wife before being robbed of their personal valuables including cellphones, wristwatches and wedding rings.

The suspects then drove the victim’s vehicle before dropping the man and his wife at Capricorn Street in Lonehill Upper East as he was losing a lot of blood. Both victims were taken to Fourways Life Hospital by a Lonehill resident. Unfortunately, the 49-year-old man succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead.

The stolen Range Rover was recovered on the morning of 31 May in Midrand.
