Audiences and judges had the power of the vote and saw Bianca Mabaso winning the title. Judge Kenji Milano said of the voting, “I was part of the first auditions last year and from there I could see the vision Maria Foster had for Maboneng Fashion Week. The judges and I had a big problem coming to a decision as we saw each of the contestants as rightful ambassadors. Bianca really did deserve the win however and even in the early auditions she really stood out for me. She is like a muse for this spectacular event.”

Foster added, “My work is all about local products. I source all my material locally and have a major passion for promoting South Africa.” When asked by the Sandton Chronicle, what inspires her, Foster replied, “I always start with my fabric and go from there, that’s where I get my inspiration. I really wanted to create a South African trench coat with a street style and am really proud of how it came out.”

Milano concluded, “I am proud of Maboneng Fashion Week for giving a platform to unknown designers and models.”

Maboneng Fashion Week will take place in October with a series of events coming up for the build-up.
