JOBURG - Fast food giant, KFC, and Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the extension of the company's sponsorship of the KFC T20 International series.
The contract has been extended for another four years and will see KFC sponsor the T20 series matches between South Africa and Australia taking place next month.
KFC South Africa chief marketing officer, Mike Middleton, explained the importance of continuing their partnership with cricket. “Our sponsorship of the T20 Internationals, together with the KFC Mini-Cricket programme, enable us to take cricket development in South Africa to the next level and to hopefully unearth the next generation of Proteas,” he said.
“Getting kids active and closer to their heroes are among the primary goals of the Mini-Cricket programme and the T20 internationals greatly assist us in achieving these objectives.”
Chief executive officer of CSA, Haroon Lorgat, praised KFC for getting involved in developing cricket. Lorgat added that the cricket association was looking forward to the continued relationship in the coming years. The company has been the title sponsor of the KFC T20 Internationals since 2011 and the renewal sees the sponsorship continuing until 2020.
Three T20 international matches remain for the summer, with the Proteas set to take on Australia in a three-match series on 4, 6 and 9 March, before departing for the ICC World T20 Cup in India.
