Ready... Gauteng Canoe Union School League canoeists prepare for one of their league races. The league begins this week at Emmarentia Dam.

Schools such as St Davids Marist Inanda, Parktown Girls and Rivonia Primary school will participate in a 1 000m and 2 000m race at the Dabulamanzi Canoe Club on Emmarentia Dam.

The schools league is open to youth between the ages of eight and 18, and participants earn points towards gaining their Gauteng Junior Colours.

Participants also receive medals for both girls and boys in each age group for each race, and there is an annual awards presentation where the accumulated points are recognised.

The first race will start at 8am.
